Who We are
We are the social arm of TVS Motor Company and TVS Holdings Ltd. We work with communities and governments to empower India’s rural poor through awareness, skills and training programs.
We do this by helping them find solutions that are sustainable, in areas ranging from economic development, infrastructure to healthcare and education. We encourage them to alter their attitudes and take ownership of changes that bring about lasting development. As a not-for-profit, we mobilise resources necessary for their transformation. Our programs work only with the reciprocal, sustained participation of our communities.
Our Philosophy
We work as change agents, not donors. Our values go back to our roots and several generations of community-oriented work. In all our efforts, whether it is identifying anaemia in women, correcting malnutrition in children or introducing better farming methods, we try to find solutions suitable for the local environment.
Our model of sustainable development takes years to implement.
It involves altering many aspects of village life, be that better attendance in schools or breaking caste barriers.
At Srinivasan Services Trust, we make the push for transformation in attitudes and step aside once the stakeholders take over. The result is that communities create leaders, keep their environment clean and become self-sufficient. People learn the power of collaboration and use it everyday to better their lives.
In the last 26 years while working with communities in India, we have grappled with many challenges. Most of these were overcome by encouraging locals to find their own solutions. Several of these problems are universal in underserved communities. Those whose lives have changed wanted to say it in their own words, so we let them.
Our work has taught us that small steps lead to big change.
